High school sweethearts…and nobody knew. Ashleigh Pence had been the all-American high school girl: Gina had expected to dismiss the possibility as easily as she has during all the years since, but the curiosity is suddenly strong.

Twenty years seem like yesterday in this latest passionate story from Golden Crown award winner Gerri Hill.

I’ve read a few other things by Ms. Hill and enjoyed them, so I thought I’d give this a try. This might be something that would have been easier to follow if there was perhaps a line of whitespace or some little symbol making it obvious we’d moved to the other character’s PoV? Similarly, there were some huge jumps in the story progression, though these were not as frequent.

Honestly, this might just be a stylistic concern, but when those shifts occurred I found myself pulled out of the story. As someone else said, the flashback chapters were really sweet and well written. I wasn’t as taken by the present chapters though. This would be a 3. One person found this helpful. For someone who has read some of Gerri Hill’s other works, I was a little disappointed by this long anticipated book.

Not to say that it wasn’t still entertaining. I did enjoy the book, but was just expecting something a little more captivating. The pace of the book is a little slow for my taste and rather than being absorbed by it, I often put the book down; not because I had other things to do, but because it simply got a little boring.

The romance between the characters hiol also a little hard for me to grasp. That is, in their older years. For their teenage years- when Ashleigh and Gina first meet- Gerri Hill does an awesome job of illustrating the spark and the innocent wonder of new found sexual desires that the teen years bring.

In fact, I almost wish the entire book took place when the women were teens; it was more enjoyable reading those parts. As for the characters, I loved them all, except for maybe Gina. Ashleigh’s character was very three dimensional and very likable.

Gina, however, felt a little flat and stereotypical: For some reason, her feelings and thoughts never felt real enough for me and I just felt Hill slacked a little bit with this waitts.

Otherwise, I fine book, if not just lacking a little bit. But if you’re looking for a truly great lesbian read, Gerri Hill’s “Scorpion” is fast paced and a hot page-turner! I have loved this book for 7 years. I am so glad I found it on kindle. Now I own it again. I recommend this book to everyone on so many levels. The story and Asleigh and Gina is one of young love and real passion between to teenagers.

They hard and fast, but as gerr move to a college setting, things get a little dicey. When insecurities set in they will lose each other. One terribly hurting the other. Read how these two ladies learn that true never dies, and the road back to each other will be sweet.

Gerri Hill you rock!! I love how the characters fell in love in high school. It was a shame through miscommunication they were apart for twenty years. Both have so many demons to deal with even after twenty years apart.

Gina and Ashleigh both dread going to their twenty year reunion. Gerri for the same reason. Slowly, over the weekend, they get to know one another again.

The flashes of the past relate well with the present.

We get to slowly watch them fall in love again. Or were they ever truly out of love? But is love enough?

Can they conquer their inner demons? A little slower moving than other Gerri Hill novels still well worth the read. I agree with the other comments. Gerri Hill is by far one of my favorite authors.

I have enjoyed all of her books. Even the ones I didn’t want to read, but yet found myself enjoying them. This book was good. I like both characters, yet I did feel it was just a tad unbelieveable. I know that when we are kids we tend to make things bigger then they are.

I just found it hard to believe that if they really loved each other – why nothing was ever hashed out Gerri Hill – please dont take me wrong.

You are an amazing writer. I will always by your books. I can’t even imagine what it takes to put out a book. I have spent the last 6 months re-reading a lot of my books. As for authors go, I have re-read all your books and some more then I can count. The reunion is one of the classic formulas in FF romance and this is one of the best.

Two high school lovers break up in their first year of college over what turns out to be a misunderstanding. They go their separate ways never to find the kind of love they’d experienced with one another.

The 20th high school reunion invitation comes, and with much trepidation, they both attend. Both characters are likable throughout all the ups and downs that follow. Usually I waaits lost when an author tries to write a story that jumps back and forth from present day and then back 2 decades and back again. However not only is this a beautifully written loe story but a well written journey that spans over 20 years. Ms Hill wrote this story, jumping back and forth seamlessly so you know her characters deeper as well as feeling their intense feelings for one another.

This one wasn’t one of Hill’s best, but it was a good read nonetheless. I enjoyed the dynamic between the two very much.
