D I’ll look into Japanese the Manga Way and consider it in my options although I’ll probably end up buying both.

I am manvaland a complete beginner, and so I was at least able to get through the book without having to stop and do exercises. If you’re a napanese beginner, I would save this book for later.
The errors might be in localization.

Between this, a semester of university Japanese, and WWWJDIC, I had enough jqpanese to start on low-level manga, and I beefed up my vocab by japnaese through those word by unknown word, which, while painful, was probably about as efficient as the flashcards had been, and came with the fringe benefit that I actually got to read manga.
