Can anyone here point me toward a script, plugin, or standalone program that will batch convert and recurse into subdirectories XCF files into PSD files? I’ve tried imsgemagick ImageMagick’s convert, and it, too does not meet my needs.

For those interested, I’m attempting to make Adobe Lightroom catalog my edited photo files. That’s 3 years worth of XCF’s. I don’t know why exactly the rename and convert methods fail, but I suspect that as an Adobe product, Lightroom is very particular about PSD files. Thanks for you help. AccidntlTourist 8 years ago. Can’t answer your question, but I have one. So, if you want to retain layers in your transfer to PSD, you might want to try a few of your more complex converf to see if you lose anything when you open them up in your Adobe application.

Thanks for the heads-up.

So far the old-fashioned way: PSD Works well and imagenagick all the layers I’ve tried so far. To boot, these PSD’s are recognized by Lightroom. This leads me to believe that an SCM script is going to be required.

I think there is a plugin that already exists that could do that. David’s Batch Processor here: If there are no extant scripts, I think my next plan is to modify David’s Batch Processor to imafemagick for automatic directory traversal and PSD output if can. Trying a “non-gimp” thing, check if ImageMagick can do the trick? Jean-Pierre Bucciol 8 years ago.

Batch convert xcf files to jpg – ImageMagick

On a Unix-like system, using bash and the imagemagick convert tool: Thanks all for your input. Looks like I’ll have to go about this myself. I’ll post the results back here if there’s any interest.

You should take carebefore convert to check for text layers and unsupported layer modes Or conveert, usually without any warning convertion will fail and no gimp no PS would be able to open the files In case of text layer they need to be converted in normal layer discard text info Thanks for the tips. I’ve got a lot of images that I’d be sorely disappointed if they were corrupted over some silly text. Your results might give someone else an idea that triggers a new way to do things PhotoComiX Posted 8 years ago.
