Throughout the book, it can be easily mistaken to be a collection of short stories but which Forsyth has very cleverly combined together to create a story which can be easily comparable to The Day of the Jackal. The first act of the novel introduces Calvin Dexter, the main character of the story. But, as others before him have discovered, revenge does not replace the loss. His brilliance was in the details and the planning.
