I’ve just been sitting here running through outline number 1 and it’s basic variations.
Hopefully making sense heretrying to say this book will get you constructing those bop flavored kind of lines. Keeps your head out of the book. The chapter on embellishment enclosures, passing tones, liear has some really good info and ideas on how to fill in between the chord tones, but with an emphasis on the important chord tones, instead of running a scale.
I guess the reall chord is learning to flesh out the basic quarter note outlines with passing notes, chromatic approaches etc, to extend these to the longer ii-V7-I. How to Reharmonise a song.
