Dec 30, Matthew DeBettencourt rated it really liked it. Cronkite, the Mmaclean Wayne lookalike, listens to these naughty men squabbling then makes them an outrageous offer: All the characters are the biggest, richest, best or most powerful etc in the land.
I don’t particularly like the characters but for me, reading these books isn’t about the characters, it is simply about the action and that is pretty much non-stop all the way. New York Times 23 Oct Simple plot, fast paced and easily readable and predictable: This one is a complete dud.

As in Ice Station Zebra and The Guns of Navarone, MacLean trots out his big hardware for an engineering adventure-spectacular, laistair kind of melodrama he could write with both arms in a cast and his mouth applied to a Cuba libre straw.
