Also, Alice’s sister musing, at the end, that Alice will eventually become a grown woman, and should therefore try to maintain “the simple and loving heart of her childhood”, fit the theme quite nicely. I never watched the Disney movie, but I still knew just about everything from this book.
I mean she is a child but sometimes she seemed awfully so. I started reading while imagining George MacDonald ‘s children sprawled alixe rugs before a fire and listening to Carroll, a family friend, read his work aloud for the first time.
